Recent Activities:

Ohio Bicentennial Wagon Train

On July 2, 2003, our club participated in the encampment of the Ohio Bicentennial Wagon Train at Watkins memorial High School.  The club served watermelon and pie to participants on Wednesday evening, and a pancake breakfast at 6:30 AM Thursday morning.  The wagon train left the encampment around 9:00 AM on its journey to Reynoldsburg and points further west.

Pataskala Street Fair Parade

The annual Pataskala Street Fair Parade in August 2003 was again organized by our Rotary Club, under the chairwomanship of Judy Baird.  The theme was "Ohio's Bicentennial".  The Grand Marshals were Tom and Margaret Caw.  The Rotary Club and the YMCA has a float which featured a large pool with children playing in it -- the theme was "the pool is now open",  since the South West Branch of the Y is now operating Pataskala's municipal pool.  The club also sponsored the annual 5-K run held prior to the parade.

Relay for Life

Our club was well represented at the American Cancer Society's "Relay For Life" held at Watkins Memorial High School.

Opening of the YMCA, SW Licking Branch

Our club joined the Pataskala Community in celebrating the opening of the S.W. Licking Branch of the YMCA which opened January 8, 2004 under the Direction of club member Dan Levitt in Jersey, Ohio.  This event marked a milestone in a three year effort and over $15,000 commitment on the part of the Rotary Club of Pataskala to get the Licking County YMCA to open a branch in our community.  Thanks to Ben Whitehead and all the Club Members who worked to fulfill this dream.  The new Y branch has enjoyed much popularity as it continues to develop programs for young and old alike in our community.  For more information on the Y contact Dan Levitt, Director:  Dan.Levitt@lcfymca.org
